Full Cost Recovery Template

During the summer of 2004, Keen Systems worked with New Philanthropy Capital to develop the electronic version of the new guide: “Full cost recovery – can your organisation survive without it?”. The guide was part of a project undertaken jointly by NPC and ACEVO and was launched in November.

The aim of this initiative is to  ensure that voluntary organisations are able to make accurate and verifiable calculations of the true costs of delivery of services, enabling a better understanding of those costs both within the sector, and also amongst funding organisations.

“A strong, thriving voluntary sector cannot live hand to mouth. That is why the government is promoting full cost recovery, enabling organisations to recover the legitimate portion of overhead costs for the work they do.”

Fiona McTaggart MP – Voluntary Sector Minister speaking at the launch of the new guide.

The software has been widely complimented for its clarity and ease of use.

In 2008, we worked with acevo and others to produce an updated version of the template – Full Cost Business Planner. The purpose of this version was to allow larger organisations to complete calculations for multiple projects. This version is an independent application, not based on Excel like the initial version. However the calculation is done using queries in an Access database – this is where the Keen Systems expertise was required.
